Session

Each Presbyterian congregation has a governing body of persons, elected from their active membership, as Elders, serving a three year term. This group of Elders makes up the Session. The Session has the responsibility for overseeing the life of a particular congregation.

Silver Spring's Session is made up of 21 Elders, a Clerk of Session, and the Pastor. The Pastor is the Moderator of the Session. Like a Pastor, Elders are ordained to their ministry.

The Session is organized into various committees, most of which are open to members and friends of the congregation. Through these committees, the Session keeps the congregation focused on the mission of Christian "worship, fellowship, and discipleship.
