MUSIC AT SSPC

Dr. Kyle Weary, Music Director, leads our church musicians and the congregation as we come to better know Christ
and his call on our lives through worship and music.

We have a vibrant music ministry and would love for you to be a part of it!

1. Sanctuary Choir

The glorious sounds of the Sanctuary Choir can be heard most Sundays at our Traditional, 9:00 am service. The choir sings a mix of traditional, classical, and contemporary music in four-part harmony. Opportunities for ensembles and solo performance exist throughout the year.

The Sanctuary Choir rehearses in the choir room at 7:15 pm on Wednesday evenings from September through May. You don't have to be a professional singer to be a member – just a desire to praise God through song!

Our first rehearsal for next year will be August 30, 2023 at 7:15 in the choir room. If you are interested in joining the choir for the season or for a Sunday, all you need to do is show up for rehearsal.

2. Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir performs on select Sundays during our worship services. The handbell choir currently has 10 members that ring our three-octave Schulmerich bells. The bell choir is often featured during our Advent candlelight concerts as well as other festival Sundays. Membership is open to both our youth and adult church members.

Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm in the skylight room (room 204) from September through May.

3. Gathering Band

The Gathering, Silver Spring's innovative and informal worship experience features a contemporary worship band. This band includes singers and instrumentalists (piano, bass, guitar, and drums) that lead the congregation in a joyous and meaningful level of worship. Come worship God with us!

If you are interested in joining The Gathering band as a vocalist or an instrumentalist, please contact Dr. Kyle Weary at any point in time to arrange a very informal audition.
4. Intergenerational Choir

The Intergenerational Choir has concluded for this school year. We will resume meeting in September on Sunday mornings at 10 am for 10-15 minutes at the beginning of Sunday School.

We enjoyed singing with the congregations in both services this past year. Please consider joining us when we resume in the fall. We enjoy our time singing together and would love to have YOU! Please contact Tracy Wieseman for more information.
