What is Legacy Giving?

Sustaining the Legacy of SSPC

At Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, we have a sense that we are part of a long-established legacy. Since 1734, the faithful followers of Christ in this area have come to the site of James Silver’s spring for worship and fellowship. Over the years, the campus has grown from a simple meeting point at the Spring to the over 17 acres of buildings and grounds which are part of the legacy left to us by the earlier generations of brothers and sisters in Christ, who have worshipped at Silver Spring.

We are all indebted to the past and those who preceded us. We drink from wells we have not dug; we enjoy liberties we have not won; we share faith whose foundations we have not laid. For over 280 years as a community of faith, we have been reminded of the care, courage, selflessness, and vision of the many saints who have gone before us here at Silver Spring.

Now, we must shoulder the responsibility of sustaining SSPC for those who follow us. We dream the dreams, hope the hopes, and pray the prayers that will shape a future that will largely be known to others whom we will never meet.

At Silver Spring we organize all funds into three pillars:

           *Ministry, Mission and Worship

           *Buildings and Grounds

           *General Operations Legacy

The 1734 Legacy Funds is a group of permanent funds within each of the three pillars that will provide an endowment for the future generations of Silver Spring Members. Contributors to this fund group will become members of the 1734 Legacy Society. To find out more click here.
