About Us

Philosophy

  • Silver Spring Presbyterian Church (SSPC) provides the preschool as a mission to our surrounding community. Our pastors and staff work together to provide young children with experiences at their developmental level in a Christian atmosphere.

  • Children’s early learning experiences are vitally important to a young child’s development. Our program follows a “learning through play” philosophy.

Objectives

  • To develop an awareness of God and His world through Bible stories, prayer, and exploration.

  • To develop individuality and encourage creativity by fostering feelings of positive self-esteem, comfort, and uniqueness in a healthy, loving, caring environment.

  • To develop a sensitivity to others through socialization.

  • To develop enjoyable, creative, and positive learning experiences which facilitate life-long learning.

  • To enhance gross and fine motor development.

Meet Our Director

Emily joined us as SSPC's Preschool Director in January of 2021. She graduated from Dickinson College with both a degree in Biology and Education. She taught Honors and AP biology classes for the Cumberland Valley School District, and coached the girls' high school lacrosse team there as well. Emily has substituted at our Preschool and had her own children enrolled in our Preschool classes.

Emily would want you to know that she loves chaos! In fact, she lives amongst it - with her            husband, three children, three chocolate labs, two kittens, all in addition to their farm animals.

Our Staff

Each classroom consists of a Head teacher and Assistant teacher with the exception of our DHS certified 2 year old classroom which include a Head Teacher and 2 assistant teachers.

We are proud of our teachers tenure at the preschool and their dedication to early childhood development. Please visit our bulletin board in the preschool for staff biographies.
