Silver Spring Presbyterian Church Season of Lent

Silver Spring Presbyterian Church Lenten Devotions

There are copies in the office for those who cannot afford to buy the book.

C.S. Lewis Lenten Devotions

Join us these Wednesday evenings in Lent for a study of C.S. Lewis and his writings.  These will be both in-person in the Chapel and also available on Zoom.

•
 6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 21 & 28 – “The Great Divorce”
In this short but impactful novel, the writer finds himself in Hell boarding a bus bound for Heaven. The amazing opportunity is that anyone who wants to stay in Heaven, can. This is a starting point for an extraordinary meditation upon good and evil, grace and judgment.

•
6:00 pm, Wednesday, March 13 & 20, we will watch together and discuss “The Most Reluctant Convert,” a short (73 minute) and highly rated film featuring an elderly C. S. Lewis reflecting back on his conversion at Oxford among the likes of fellow scholars J.R.R. Tolkien.
•   The film is available in multiple places online should you wish to watch it before our class sessions.

•   You need not watch the movie ahead of time as we will watch it together in two halves, followed by discussion.
•   Light snacks and drinks will be available.

Please join us for this terrific way to observe a holy and impactful Lent, leading us to the joy of Holy Week!

NOTE: There will be no devotions on March 6th as we are hosting a Presbytery event that evening.
