Services

Silver Spring is offering two distinctly different worship services every Sunday morning. The first service is held in the Meeting House and begins at 9:00. It is more formal, with familiar hymns and choral anthems, a traditional sermon and responsive liturgy. The second service, which begins at 11:00 is held in the Fellowship Hall/Gym and is called The Gathering at Silver Spring. It is less formal than our other service and appropriate for all ages.

In both services, the reading and hearing of God's Word is central to our worship. Everything that we do, from music to prayers to sermons, are offered so that we can open our ears and our hearts to what God is saying to us.

Music is very important to us, and our choirs and musicians work diligently to assist in leading us through songs and hymns so that the focus remains on praising God. In addition, special music is presented throughout the year.

Wednesday evenings during Advent and Lent, we offer opportunities to slow down, meditate and worship from 7 to 7:30 p.m. The Advent services usually focus around music, while the Lenten services are more meditative.

The Lord's Supper is offered every Sunday during The Gathering, the first Sunday of each month in the Meeting House, and on other special days through the year: i.e., Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, etc. All who attend worship are invited to participate in the Lord's Supper, regardless of denomination or church affiliation.
