Your Journey
Exploring Membership

New Member Classes:

Saturday, January 26, 2019

9-11:30 am in the Parlor

Have you been thinking about membership at SSPC, or wondering what kind of commitments that might involve?  Then join Senior Pastor Don Wahlig for this fast-paced, informal and interactive class.

What will we cover? The class begins with brief introductions and then moves on to explore what we mean by confessing "Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior."  From there, we move on to a brief history of the development of the church.   We begin with the 16th century Reformation and the emergence of Presbyterianism as it moved from Geneva to Scotland and on to the United States.

After a break, we will talk about SSPC and our rich history.  We will cover how we are organized and how decisions are made, and the many ministries that emerge as we try to make Jesus Christ Lord of our lives.  We will conclude with a review of the expectations of membership.  For those who are ready to do so, there will be an opportunity to join the congregation, though there is no pressure or obligation to do so.

The class will be held in the Parlor, beginning at 9 a.m. and will end before noon.  A light breakfast will be served. If you would like to reserve a spot in this class or simply have questions, please contact Don at don@silverspring.org.  Hope to see you there!

Blessings,
Don
Where are you on your journey?

Maybe you’re new to Christianity and wondering what it’s all about.  Maybe you were raised in the faith, but now have new questions you’d like to explore as you consider the church again through the eyes of an adult.  Maybe you’re a lifelong follower of Jesus who’s now raising a family and wants them to be nurtured in the faith the way you were – and would also like the support of a faith family in becoming a better parent and spouse.  Maybe you’re an empty-nester or retired and want to put your faith into action in new ways.

Wherever you are, and whoever you are, you’re welcome here.

All of us at SSPC are on the journey with you.  We come from different backgrounds and we’re at different points on the path, but we share the common desire to know and walk with Jesus Christ more closely.  We’re here to help support one another on our journeys.

I invite you to bring your faith and your doubts, your questions and your experiences, and join us.  There are few faith communities more friendly and welcoming than this one.  No matter who you are, no matter where you’ve been, you’re welcome into this family of faith.

Blessings,

Pastor Don Wahlig
