Praying for Change
The Apostle Paul writes in II Corinthians 5, "If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everythng old has passed away; see, everything has become new!"
As humans, God has made us conflictory beings: on one side we are made to grow and growing requires change. On the other hand, we are people who resist change. It is human nature to seek out new possibilities and it is human nature to remain the same.
With all that, it seems evident by the witness of the Bible that God wants us on the move - sometimes physically, but always spiritually. God is calling us forward.
Jerry Sittser writes, "There will neever be a real point of arrival. What matters is the movement forward."
In the often quoted words of John Henry Newman, "To live is to change, and to be perfect is to have changed often." (64)
What has changed in you and what is God calling you to change to become a new creation?
Together in Christ,
Stephen
