A New Mexico Sunrise After a Cold Night
The coldest night on my cross country trips took place in New Mexico in October. That day I had been in Santa Fe where it had been 80 degrees. I drove two and half hours south to camp in the desert. Sometime around 1:00 a.m. I woke up freezing. It was so cold I couldn't sleep. Finally at 5:00 a.m. I decided to get up. The stars were amazing.
The good news is that I got to see this sun rise in New Mexico. The bad news is that it was so cold I had to scrap ice off my motorcycle windshield before I could drive it! The temperature had dropped over fifty degrees over night. It must have been in the 20's.
